2005 – Skinny jeans and a nice top, MySpace, Being papped on Don’tStayIn before Facebook was even a thing, The birth of 2kilos of Funk.  Simpler times.

Jamie Oliver was banging on about Turkey Twizzlers, Youtube was launched and if you were sending someone photos of yourself in your pants you were struggling to do it on your Nokia via MMS  😉 😉  (u knw who u r <3 )

Text slang was real talk – txt u l8er beb – people carried mp3 players full of bootlegs we put on MySpace, everyone hadn’t been obsessed with grey.  The world was colourful.  Our faces weren’t lit up by little handheld rectangles.  We smiled at strangers.

The story of 2kilos has been told a million times over – Matt’s mate Tim mithering the now defunct Soho bar to let them host  a party on a sunday afternoon, the move to the Vaults and the thursday night carnage that almost cost people their jobs due to turning up to work still drunk on a Friday morning, Salopian mash ups where the glasses rattled on the shelves from the bass, the crazily themed parties in the cellars – 800 people filing into the venue with the then owner being ‘creative’ with how many it could hold, all dressed like they were going to the seaside.  Then post break, the RAD parties, the old friends returning, the new friends made.  All the insanely talented guests – internationally known artists and local legends.

We invite you to a very special night of the classics – 20 years of 2Kilos of Funk.  Whether you were there at the start or discovered our parties more recently, we want to see you.  Let’s party like it’s 2005, and be grateful it’s not on a school night!  No tickets, no door fee, just like it used to be (none of us can be arsed standing on the door when we could be inside having fun!)
