Hosted by the Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Bernie Bentick, the event will bring together a fantastic selection of local restaurants and food businesses, giving visitors the opportunity to sample authentic dishes from across Asia.

Tickets are available to purchase online until Thursday 15 October at noon, giving food lovers just over a week to secure their place at what promises to be a unique afternoon celebrating food, culture and community.

From Thai spicy salads and Vietnamese fresh spring rolls to Nepalese curries, guests will be able to enjoy a wide variety of dishes served in sample-sized portions, allowing them to try something new and experience a range of flavours in one afternoon.

The event will showcase cuisines including Thai, Vietnamese, Nepalese, Indian, Sri Lankan and Turkish, alongside local drinks from Rad Beer and Rowton Vineyard.

But Taste of Asia is about more than just great food. The event is being held to raise money and awareness for the Mayor’s four chosen charities for 2026/27: Shropshire Mental Health Support, Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation and Little Stars.

Councillor Bernie Bentick, Mayor of Shrewsbury, said:

“I’m really excited to be hosting this Taste of Asia event and to have the opportunity to bring so many different community groups together in support of my four chosen charities.

“Shrewsbury is a wonderfully diverse town, and this event is a great way to celebrate that diversity through food. What makes it particularly exciting is that the dishes being served will offer something a little different from the traditional foreign food options that people may usually find on restaurant menus in the town.”

Tickets cost £20 per person, which includes £10 worth of food and drinks tokens. Additional tokens will be available to purchase during the event, allowing visitors to sample even more of the dishes on offer.

Tickets can be purchased online until Thursday 15 October at noon.

The event organisers are also working closely with participating restaurants to ensure food is clearly labelled for allergies and intolerances. Anyone with specific dietary requirements is asked to make these known when booking, and alternatives will be provided where possible.

The Mayor added:

“I would like to thank all of the local restaurants and businesses who are generously contributing their time, food and expertise to make the event possible.

“I hope people will come along, try something new, meet others from across our community and, most importantly, help us raise money for four fantastic local charities.”

Taste of Asia promises to be an afternoon celebrating food, culture and community, while raising much-needed funds for four important local causes.

Families, friends and food lovers from across Shrewsbury and beyond are invited to come along, discover something new and enjoy the wonderful diversity of Asian cuisine on offer in the town.
