The heart of Shropshire’s brewing scene is set for a major milestone as Ludlow Brewery prepares to raise a glass to two decades of independent success.

Located just a short stroll from Ludlow Train Station, the event runs from 11 am until 7 pm, offering an action-packed itinerary designed to entertain everyone from dedicated ale enthusiasts to young families.

The day’s soundtrack will be provided by an eclectic mix of live performers, including the Bewdley Concert Band and solo acoustic artist Matt Williams, who is well-known locally as the former frontman of the band Frontrunner.

Between sets, visitors can explore a display of vintage vehicles or take advantage of free brewery tours running throughout the afternoon. These behind-the-scenes glimpses offer a rare chance to see exactly how the brewery’s celebrated range is crafted.

For younger guests, the atmosphere is kept high-energy with face painting and giant inflatables, ensuring the anniversary truly feels like a community-wide party.

A birthday celebration is nothing without a feast, and the brewery has curated a mouth-watering line-up of local street food available to purchse. Andrew Francis Butchers will be on hand serving freshly cooked bacon baps, burgers, and steaks, while Bao To The Broth will provide a contemporary twist with Asian-inspired dishes. Of course, the star of the show remains the beer.

Guests can enjoy the full range of Ludlow’s famous brews to buy, from the multi-award-winning Ludlow Gold to the modern, craft-led Derailed range and the newly launched Latitude 52 lager.

This twenty-year milestone marks an incredible journey for Managing Director Gary Walters, who famously began his brewing career using a bucket in his garage back in 2006. Since those humble beginnings, the business has breathed new life into a derelict Victorian railway shed and expanded its reach significantly.

Following major upgrades in 2024 and further investments in sustainable technology like solar panels, the brewery now has the potential to produce over two million pints annually. Gary Walters expressed his gratitude to the local area, noting that the event is a way to thank the community that has supported their growth from a small start-up into a regional powerhouse.

While the brewery is now a sophisticated operation capable of producing just under 1.4 million pints a year, it remains deeply rooted in its Shropshire heritage. Whether you are there for the history of the meticulously restored 1857 railway building, the thrill of the live music, or simply a cold pint in the covered beer terrace, the anniversary fun day stands as a testament to twenty years of passion and independence.

Entry to the event is free, though food and drink remain available for purchase, making it the perfect way to spend a May Sunday in the heart of Ludlow.
