Hosted by the Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Bernie Bentick, the event will take place in the beautiful surroundings of The Dingle in Quarry Park. Guests will enjoy a glass of fizz and canapés while following a magical promenade performance by Shropshire Youth Theatre, who will bring scenes inspired by The Wind in the Willows to life. The evening will also be supported with lighting by award-winning professional light artist Andy McKeown, with music and effects from Rebel Evolution, helping to create an atmospheric setting for this unique outdoor performance.

Tickets are £20 per person, with all profit from the event supporting the Mayor of Shrewsbury’s chosen charities for 2026/27: Little Stars, Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, Shropshire Mental Health Support and the Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation.

The event continues a growing tradition between the Mayor’s Charity Appeal and Shropshire Youth Theatre. The talented young performers have supported the Mayor’s charities for the past three years, delighting audiences with performances from A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2024 and Alice in Wonderland in 2025, helping to raise valuable funds for local causes. This year’s production of scenes from The Wind in the Willows promises another magical evening in one of Shrewsbury’s most iconic green spaces.

The Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Bernie Bentick, said:

“This is one of the highlights of my fundraising year. The Dingle provides a truly magical setting and, with the incredible performances from Shropshire Youth Theatre, it promises to be a very special evening.

“Every ticket sold will help support four fantastic local charities that make a real difference to people’s lives across Shrewsbury and beyond. Whether they are supporting children and families, improving mental health, helping people affected by cancer or inspiring young people through sport, they each have a lasting impact on our community. I hope residents will join us for an unforgettable evening while helping to raise vital funds.”

Lisa Morris, Artistic Director of Shropshire Youth Theatre, said:

“We’re incredibly proud to be returning to The Dingle to support the Mayor’s Charity Appeal for a third consecutive year. Performing in such a unique setting is always a memorable

experience for both our young actors and our audiences, and we’re delighted to be bringing the wonderful characters of Toad of Toad Hall to life this year. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase the talent of our young performers while raising money for charities that make such a positive difference in our community.”

Spaces are limited, so early booking is recommended. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy an enchanting evening of outdoor theatre, delicious refreshments and a magical atmosphere in the heart of Shrewsbury, all while supporting four outstanding local charities.

Tickets can be booked online.
